Book Club

Granddad continues to help us with babysitting once a week while Eric and I are at work.  Since Grandmom's school year ended we've been lucky enough to have her for a few days this summer as well!  Tyler has certainly been enjoying the attention, especially practice reading!

Just waking up from nap time

I love your stories Granddad!

Another addition to our Biscuit series...this time Biscuit Goes to the Zoo!

Above all, Tyler loves closing books

After some light reading, Tyler decided to go for a walk and burn off some energy.  Thanks for the help, Grandmom!

See you guys later!!  Thanks for hanging in there for the first 11 months of my life.  You're now all caught up with my adventures!!!

Day Date with our Buddies

We joined Emily and Ella for another beautiful day at World's End State Park in Higham, MA.  We did a lot of walking around the park, then let the kids out of the strollers to play around for a bit.  As always, we had a ton of fun!

Inspecting Ella's shoes.  That's about as close as she lets Tyler get.  There is absolutely no touching allowed...

Exhibit A:  No touching.

Exhibit B: Seriously.  No touching.

Exhibit C: Back away from the baby...
Ella does love offering some blueberries!

Thanks, friend!

Darling it's better...down where it's wetter...Under the Sea!

Early in June Eric and I had a much needed family day and decided that it was time for Tyler to visit the New England Aquarium.  He had an absolute blast for the first 10 minutes, then decided he was starving, laughed at the sharks for a bit, then promptly fell asleep for the rest of the tour.  Really the only things he missed were the Sea Dragons and Northern Fur Seals.  It was too bad he missed the Northern Fur Seals exhibit, which was my favorite, because during the presentation they were painting pictures with real paint and paint brushes!  Quite amazing.  The results reminded me of the pictures that baby Aiden Williams creates at baby camp :-)

After Tyler finished napping at the Aquarium, we were all pretty hungry.  In an effort to continue introducing Tyler to new things in Boston, we thought it only fitting to visit the North End for some pasta at Dolce Vita and cannoli at Mike's Pastry.  Tyler definitely took part in some of Boson's best pasta but Eric wasn't quite ready to share his cannoli.  Tyler didn't seem to mind!

On our way to the North End we stopped by to say hello to Paul Revere...or his house anyway.

What a cutie!!!!

Loving authentic Italian pasta!

Adventures of an 11 month old

So I've been getting a hard time all around for not posting in such a long time.  We've been pretty busy the past month or so with a rather nice transition from spring to summer.  Instead of a new post for each event, I'm just going to put a little compilation together so you can all be up to date on what our family has been up to!

Fenway Park with my work friends Jason and Shannon

GO SOX!!

More at Fenway with Chenine and Eric, old school BMC friends

Tyler's obligatory 7th innings stretch nap.  Perfect opportunity for a family portrait!

Always happy to wake up at Fenway Park!

Sippin' on Apple Juice...laid back...

Snack time after playing at the park with BFF Ella!

C'mon Ella, lemme try one of those peanut butter cookies...I don't think so...

Playing in the yard

Playing with rocks...bet that will help little teeth come in!

Step One: Find the stairs
Step Two: Get in position
Step Three: Test the balance
Step Four: Climb on up.  Mission accomplished!

So that takes us though most of Tyler's 11th month...but now he's up from his nap so I'll have to finish later!  Hope this helps tide everyone over!!!

Tyler Xavier Meets Fenway Park

The morning of May 30, Tyler was practicing a little jail time...something we hope he does not make a habit of...

Next we moved on to the breakfast of champions.  Tyler met his first Mickey Mouse blueberry pancake.  I'm certain that if we had the patience he would have devoured the whole thing...

And then, oh what a joyous day it was for Daddy...Tyler Xavier Carey made his debut at Fenway Park all decked out in his Red Sox onsie and shorts, "B" hat, "B" shades, and Southie edition shell toes. I must admit, that even if he wasn't my kid I would have thought he was the cutest one there!

We started out by getting Mommy and Tyler all suited up with the Baby Bjorn

Next we showed Tyler what pre-game excitement Yawkey Way contains

We had some great seats in the right field box and spent the first 3 innings taking pictures.  Then we took a restless Tyler for a Fenway Frank.  He absolutely loved it and we could not get it into his mouth fast enough!  Daddy went back to watch the game while I walked Tyler around in the Bjorn until he fell asleep.
...not sure what's up with the guy in the background???
Somehow Tyler managed to sleep through the seventh inning stretch including "God Bless America" and an entire stadium singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame and Sweet Caroline.  What a shame...
At least he woke up super happy!!!

At the end of the game we went down to field level for a quick photo shoot.  The security lady fell in love with Tyler ( how could you not!) and offered to take him on to the field.  This went pretty well until the friendly police officer scared him with an oversized (and probably sweaty and smelly) policeman hat...
...enter policeman...

Tyler is wondering who on earth this man is...where did he come from...and why is he getting so close...
Baby Photo for Senior Yearbook?

Needless to say, the Carey Family had a great day introducing Tyler to the wonders of Fenway Park.
WE WON!!
Eric and my Dad spent many hours bringing this room to life for baby Tyler. They made about 100 trips to home depot and used tools I've never heard of to put up Wainscoting, curtains, and a ceiling fan. The girls were in charge of the "Friendly Frog" paint!

Let's Start at the Beginning....

Back in the Fall of '08 Eric and I discovered that we were pregnant! So exciting, so scary, but so ready. Little did we know what our lives were going to become over the next 12 months...to bring us to today, a Saturday night, when I'm sitting on our new(ish) couch in our new(ish) house staring at our new baby monitor instead of our beautiful flat screen TV...but as much as I love our TV, I love what's on the other end of this baby monitor more than I thought possible!
But I'm getting ahead of myself...let's go back to before the arrival of Lil' T.
