First International Family Vacation-Aruba

As most of you know, we recently took a family vacation to Aruba. We went down early May to meet up with Eric's parents, Aunt J, and some family friends. It was an amazing trip beginning to end! Tyler was a champ on the plane despite being awake during all take off and landings. He didn't cry once and loved all of the attention from the other passengers! We learned on the first flight that sitting in the first row is the best option when travelling with a little one. Way more leg room and no one to poke when being nosey and looking between the seats! Also, best to ask at check-in if there is any way to get a 3 seater so we could bring the car seat on. We succeeded in acquiring an extra (and free!) seat all 3 legs of the journey!! We spent our time on the flights reading, playing with toys, talking to neighbors, drinking bottles, eating sweet potatoes stars and strawberry melts. Perfection.

While we were away Tyler thought it best to meet some developmental milestones. At the ripe old age of 9 months Tyler began to crawl! Yes, that's right, he's crawling. Eric and I thought he was going to go straight from rolling to walking but we were fooled. I think it was being in the sand that gave him the extra leverage that was needed to coordinate it all. And once he started he just got faster. It was so amazing to watch him learn to coordinate this and realize that in the morning all he could do was sit there and by lunch he was crawling! He hasn't looked back since!!

We have many, many more videos and pictures which are soon to come, but I was strongly encouraged to get a few of Tyler crawling before I got everything organized! Enjoy and check back soon for the complete play by play of our first family vacation!

Eric and my Dad spent many hours bringing this room to life for baby Tyler. They made about 100 trips to home depot and used tools I've never heard of to put up Wainscoting, curtains, and a ceiling fan. The girls were in charge of the "Friendly Frog" paint!

Let's Start at the Beginning....

Back in the Fall of '08 Eric and I discovered that we were pregnant! So exciting, so scary, but so ready. Little did we know what our lives were going to become over the next 12 months...to bring us to today, a Saturday night, when I'm sitting on our new(ish) couch in our new(ish) house staring at our new baby monitor instead of our beautiful flat screen TV...but as much as I love our TV, I love what's on the other end of this baby monitor more than I thought possible!
But I'm getting ahead of myself...let's go back to before the arrival of Lil' T.
